Subaru Impreza WRX Sedan/Plus - and Sprite

Brian reviewed on a Subaru Impreza WRX Sedan/Plus - (165 Kw/224 bhp year: february 2003 - october 2005) and a Sprite Swing of (laden) 1100 kg.

Hi

Just to add to above comments... The Subaru is lighter on fuel (13.5l/100km) in 5th gear towing at 110km/h in good weather conditions. That applies to level and downhills. Use 4th gear for uphills at 100km/h.

Hi

I have a 2001 Subaru Impreza WRX AWD Sport Wagon towing a 2006 Sprite Swing with a light to medium duty stabilzer bar called the "yellow blade".
This rig is as stable as standing still and sometimes you could forget that you have a caravan behind you due to the fact that the caravan is so light compared to the car, as well as the fact that the car has a very firm suspension.
The low profile tyres on the Subaru (215/45/17) in my opinion is also a contributing factor to the stability as well as the low center of gravity with this vehicle having a horizontally opposed motor with 4WD drive train that adds more weight below the chassis.
The 4WD traction in steep gravel uphills is awesome when trying to get back onto the road after a break, as well as manoevering the caravan in a sandy caravan park close to the beach.
The power is more than what you can ask for because the rig overtakes quicker than a solo 1600 car.

Solo the car is rated at 11l/100km although I had 9l/100km at 130km/h.
With the caravan you can expect an average of 14.5l to 15l/100km at 95-100km/h with no wind. The best I got was 11.17l/100km at the same speed. The worse consumption experienced in a head wind at 100km/h was 20l/100km.
Due to the enormous amount of power available, try not to overtake when all that power is required ie. uphills etc because the car will become a guzzler.
