Weight

  • The towing limit of the Volvo is more than sufficient (check this in your vehicle documents).
  • The car is too heavily loaded.
  • Weight ratio between the laden caravan and the loaded car is 0%. Common in the UK: the weight ratio between the laden caravan and the kerbweight of the car is 0%.
  • The chance of snaking is small even at higher speeds.
  • Recommended noseweight is 50 kg.
  • Stability and safety score to compare is 369 points.

If the caravan starts to snake you should reduce your speed and slow down directly! Lift your feet off the accelerator and brake gradually. Hold the steering wheel into a fixed position.

Conclusion

  • Performance is very good.
  • Safe driving is possible.
  • It's a perfect match!

Influence of User Payload on stability

Weight distribution and noseweight are vital in obtaining a stable caravan.

Distribute the User Payload by yourself in the caravan and the car and then find out the stability rating of your loading configuration.

User Reviews

Georgina reviewed a Volvo V70 2.4 aut.:

"My V70 Auto has already done 125000 miles and has started towing a 24ft Bailey Pageant Burgundy. It is also my first experience at towing. I had to keep reminding myself that I had a caravan at all, as it pulled along even on 'creep' at the dealers. Had no problems at all, 50mph all the way from the Midlands to Yorkshire, plus a heavy awing and luggage in the boot too. Was averaging about 25mpg and this is a petrol car. Really impressed and has confirmed to me that my next car will be another Volvo."
