This car made short work of pulling the Lunar, adequate power and very stable. I haven't had the car very long but have towed the van from Lincoln to Teversal and to Scarborough without any issues at all. The Peugeot has a trailer stability control system as standard which is very reassuring but has never been necessary. The automatic 'box does a good job in all traffic conditions but haven't pulled up a really steep incline yet but I'm sure it'll cope well enough. Nose weight isn't an issue if you're sensible enough.
This Peugeot tows very well so far,not had it long.but on dual carriageways and B roads its very stable with bags of power when pulling up long inclines.
Follow-up to earlier review. Have covered over 1000 miles since first issues experienced and pleased to report all is good with no further problems. Fuel consumption has improved slightly on motorways and at 60mph returning 27mpg with no air con running, this is improved further when on A class roads at 40-50 mph returning 30mpg. I have noticed it's a little twitchy when towing at speed in high winds but then many outfits are.
Early findings having only been out on three occasions and covered circa 300 miles.
First time with caravan and within several miles noticed a burning smell. This has not been repeated so working under the premise that the car being one year old, low milage and never under load before was burning off some new car smells.
The second outing was uneventful but reassuring as it towed very well on a wide range of roads in largely heavy traffic.
The third trip went well for the first 100 miles and then an engine ‘stutter’ resulted in red spanner symbol and engine management warning to seek assistance. The code was identified as ‘fuel rail sensor/system low pressure warning’. In fairness this was a very hot day with air con running at high speed.
A Peugeot dealer carried out investigation and was unable to find a fault. With the system reset the following 100 miles solo has not seen any issues.
The positives of this vehicle are its size and practicalities for two persons, two large dogs and awning. Elevating the low payload of the caravan.
The challenges are to get the nose weight down to 72kgs and being a 1.6 petrol automatic fuel consumption is lower than hoped for or expected at 25mpg.
WATCH THE NOSE WEIGHT, OTHERWISE FIRST CLASS
Can some one please explain why this combination of vehicle and type of caravan are not compatable ??? Your data states that although in the Netherlands the towing capacity is lower for the vehicle is the 5008 Peugeot where as in the u.k as stated on the v5 vehicle documents it states Max towing weight for as braked trailer is 1200 ???? Please explain.thank you.
PREVIOUS CAR WAS A PEUGEOT 407 HDi AUTO, WHICH WAS AT ITS LIMIT PULLING THE ELDDIS UPHILL.
THE 5008 FDi AUTO IS IN ANOTHER LEAGUE. BAGS OF PULLING POWER AND IS STEADY IN WINDY CONDITIONS. THE CRUISE CONTROL IS GREAT WHEN TOWING.
