Performance

Weight

  • The towing limit of the Kia is more than sufficient (check this in your vehicle documents).
  • If you passed your driving test after 1 January 1997, a B driving license is enough.
  • The caravan is too heavily loaded.
  • Weight ratio between the laden caravan and the loaded car is 73%. Common in the UK: the weight ratio between the laden caravan and the kerbweight of the car is 84%.
  • The chance of snaking is relatively small at normal speed, if the caravan is well loaded.
  • Recommended noseweight is 70 kg.
  • Safe speed up to 62 mph (100 km/h).
  • Stability and safety score to compare is 181 points.

If the caravan starts to snake you should reduce your speed and slow down directly! Lift your feet off the accelerator and brake gradually. Hold the steering wheel into a fixed position.

Conclusion

  • Performance is good.
  • Safe driving is possible.
  • It's a perfect match!

Influence of User Payload on stability

Weight distribution and noseweight are vital in obtaining a stable caravan.

Distribute the User Payload by yourself in the caravan and the car and then find out the stability rating of your loading configuration.

User Reviews

Ved reviewed a Kia Ceed 1.5T-GDi:

"It wasn’t bad at all. I was skeptical about the petrol engine at first, but it had enough of power. On local roads and at lower speeds, steep climbs can be little challenging without enough torque, but shifting to a lower gear allows the vehicle to manage them without much difficulty. Highway driving was completely satisfying. Fuel consumption was around 10 L/100 km at 80-90 km/h (28 mpg UK) and 12 L/100 km at 100 km/h (23.5 mpg UK).The caravan has a relatively light drawbar, so I had to place most of the load towards the front to achieve a 75 kg nose weight I never felt unsafe at any point of this match.
