Weight

  • The towing limit of the Landrover is more than sufficient (check this in your vehicle documents).
  • If you passed your driving test after 1 January 1997, you will need a B+E driving license.
  • Weight ratio between the laden caravan and the loaded car is 65%. Common in the UK: the weight ratio between the laden caravan and the kerbweight of the car is 70%.
  • The chance of snaking is small even at higher speeds.
  • Recommended noseweight is 100 kg.
  • Stability and safety score to compare is 206 points.

If the caravan starts to snake you should reduce your speed and slow down directly! Lift your feet off the accelerator and brake gradually. Hold the steering wheel into a fixed position.

Conclusion

  • Performance is very good.
  • Safe driving is possible.
  • It's a perfect match!

Influence of User Payload on stability

Weight distribution and noseweight are vital in obtaining a stable caravan.

Distribute the User Payload by yourself in the caravan and the car and then find out the stability rating of your loading configuration.

User Reviews

Leslie Pearce reviewed a Landrover Discovery 2.7 Td V6:

"Towed an swift elegance grande 850 with a 2009 discovery 3 at 1750kgs (no payload)
Stuck at 60mph all the way because it was brand new and I was in no rush and it was just really comfortable and rock steady
Pushed it to 70 to see how it was handling and to pass a couple of trucks obviously limited to 60mph and it was all fine, no issues at all and rock steady. Now bear in mind I’m a class 1 driver, but even taking that aside this was a very stable combination helped by the sheer weight of the discovery. I feel that any relatively sensible driver could handle this really easily and overall was as the tow match says, a really good match "
