Weight

  • The towing limit of the Honda is more than sufficient (check this in your vehicle documents).
  • The car is too heavily loaded.
  • Weight ratio between the laden caravan and the loaded car is 69%. Common in the UK: the weight ratio between the laden caravan and the kerbweight of the car is 77%.
  • The chance of snaking is relatively small at normal speed, if the caravan is well loaded.
  • Recommended noseweight is 70 kg.
  • Safe speed up to 62 mph (100 km/h).
  • Stability and safety score to compare is 189 points.

If the caravan starts to snake you should reduce your speed and slow down directly! Lift your feet off the accelerator and brake gradually. Hold the steering wheel into a fixed position.

Conclusion

  • Performance is more than sufficient.
  • Safe driving is possible.
  • It's a perfect match!

Influence of User Payload on stability

Weight distribution and noseweight are vital in obtaining a stable caravan.

Distribute the User Payload by yourself in the caravan and the car and then find out the stability rating of your loading configuration.

User Reviews

Tourer reviewed a Honda Accord Tourer 2.0:

"Although the Adria Altea only weighs 1225kg fully loaded the Honda's normally excellent and lively V-tec engine seems to struggle a little in higher gears and your foot is bedded well into the carpet just to keep going. After a long journey arms and legs begin to tire with all the gear changes which makes cruise control fairly useless. Unhitch the caravan and you'll have one of the best family cars on the road."
