Weight

  • The towing limit of the Skoda is more than sufficient (check this in your vehicle documents).
  • If you passed your driving test after 1 January 1997, a B driving license is enough.
  • Weight ratio between the laden caravan and the loaded car is 65%. Common in the UK: the weight ratio between the laden caravan and the kerbweight of the car is 73%.
  • The chance of snaking is small even at higher speeds.
  • Recommended noseweight is 70 kg.
  • Stability and safety score to compare is 206 points.

If the caravan starts to snake you should reduce your speed and slow down directly! Lift your feet off the accelerator and brake gradually. Hold the steering wheel into a fixed position.

Conclusion

  • Performance is fairly good.
  • Safe driving is possible.
  • It's a perfect match!

Influence of User Payload on stability

Weight distribution and noseweight are vital in obtaining a stable caravan.

Distribute the User Payload by yourself in the caravan and the car and then find out the stability rating of your loading configuration.

User Reviews

SRM reviewed a Skoda Octavia Scout 2.0 TDI 4x4:

"Have only had the Scout a few months and really love it. We had an Older 1.8 petrol Zafira before & although it did the job, it was at it's limit. Our van is not the GT60 but roughly the same weight. We tow every week or so & look forward to getting away. The scout returns good mph either towing or solo. We wanted a 4x4 but not a large guzzling beast, as the wife uses it every day for work & shopping & we will probably end up with a fixed bed & heavier van one day. I feel we haven't even scratched the surface of this cars capabilities yet, so will be winter caravanning this year "bring on the Snow""
