Actual Weights

Performance

Weight

  • The towing limit of the Nissan is more than sufficient (check this in your vehicle documents).
  • The car is too heavily loaded.
  • Weight ratio between the laden caravan and the loaded car is 11%. Common in the UK: the weight ratio between the laden caravan and the kerbweight of the car is 13%.
  • The chance of snaking is small even at higher speeds.
  • Recommended noseweight is 50 kg.
  • Stability and safety score to compare is 347 points.

If the caravan starts to snake you should reduce your speed and slow down directly! Lift your feet off the accelerator and brake gradually. Hold the steering wheel into a fixed position.

Conclusion

  • Performance is fairly good.
  • Safe driving is possible.
  • It's a perfect match!

Influence of User Payload on stability

Weight distribution and noseweight are vital in obtaining a stable caravan.

Distribute the User Payload by yourself in the caravan and the car and then find out the stability rating of your loading configuration.

User Reviews

Wayne reviewed a Nissan Almera Tino 2.2 Di:

"I tow a Swift Allouette Diamond 5 birth, it's not in the list, so entered the specs manually.
The car and caravan are both knocking on a bit, caravan's around a 1990 and the car has the old DI engine.
I found most towing was fine, had to drop to 4th past Meadow Hall on the M1 and 3rd was comfortably accelerating on the uphill 2 lane stretch of the A628 (woodhead) which is quite steep.
I averaged around 28.5mpg which I found a little lower than I'd hoped, but still not too bad.
I bought this combination for a trip over to Eastern Europe, but I'm now thinking I might need a more modern and more powerfull car for some of the hills over there."
