Weight

  • The towing limit of the Hyundai is more than sufficient (check this in your vehicle documents).
  • If you passed your driving test after 1 January 1997, you will need a B+E (or B96) driving license.
  • Weight ratio between the laden caravan and the loaded car is 67%. Common in the UK: the weight ratio between the laden caravan and the kerbweight of the car is 73%.
  • The chance of snaking is relatively small at normal speed, if the caravan is well loaded.
  • Recommended noseweight is 80 kg.
  • Safe speed up to 62 mph (100 km/h).
  • Stability and safety score to compare is 194 points.

If the caravan starts to snake you should reduce your speed and slow down directly! Lift your feet off the accelerator and brake gradually. Hold the steering wheel into a fixed position.

Conclusion

  • Performance is very good.
  • Safe driving is possible.
  • It's a perfect match!

Influence of User Payload on stability

Weight distribution and noseweight are vital in obtaining a stable caravan.

Distribute the User Payload by yourself in the caravan and the car and then find out the stability rating of your loading configuration.

User Reviews

Colin s reviewed a Hyundai Santa Fe 2.2 CRDi R 4WD aut.:

"I owned a Kia shortage 2012 140 BHP towing a swift challenger sport 545 I had had the Kia re-mapped to 170 by so no lack of power but you alway new the van was on the back a little twitchy at times…..then I changed cars after an accident to a Hyundai sante fe 2.2 ..2011 style 198 BHP after reading some reviews oh my god what a game changer the car is amazing it pulls our van up and down hills without struggling at all in fact you can forget the van is on the back and start creeping over the 60 mph speed limit for towing vehicles I arrive now feeling refreshed and don’t need to stop every 70 miles or so forget your BMW …Audi… and other expensive cars if you go for the premium range sante fe you get all the toys you ever want at a fraction of the price they are also available in 5 seat and 7 seat variants"
