I tow a Swift Corniche 18/4 with a miro of 1283 kg. The Lexus handles this with ease and returns some 27 - 28 mpg. I find that the car does not like towing in 6th gear unless you are barrelling along in excess of 70 mph, (I tend to stay around 60mph for comfort). At this speed the car tows well in 5th gear. The cost of having a tow bar fitted to the Lexus is expensive, in excess of £500.00. Westfalia are the only manufacturers of tow bars for this model and the only option is a detachable unit. All in all I am very pleased with the towing capabilites of the Lexus and have no hesitation in recommending it as a good tow car for this size of caravan.
great tow car but 6th gear useless good mpg avg28
Sixth gear when towing is unusable.+ lots of gear changing required.
I have recently bought this car to tow my Bailey Pageant Series 7 Burgundy. The car is a joy to drive with or without the van. It tows with ease and I rarely need to drop out of 5th with cruise, on motorways. There is more than enough power available for all situations, and being rear wheel drive, the weight is exactly where it is needed with the van attached. Highly recommended.
