The Nissan Patrol 3.0Di makes an excellent tow vehicle for large caravans. Mine is fitted with a Dastek chip increasing BHP to 200 (from 160) and 300 lb/ft of torgue (up from 250). While not as sophisticated as a Land Rover Discovery it is a quiet cruiser on the motorway and hauling the Airstream I get about 20 mpg.
25 yrs towing experiance patrol gr rates as one of the best tow cars on the market tows a big twin very well very stable at any speed 30di very good on fuel very reliable highly recomended
Just bought a 2000 model Patrol 3.0 and pulls my Bailey 620/6 easily. Superb tow car.
Well, what can I say. 3 adults and 4 children with all the luggage etc that goes with the tribe. Patrol was steady as rock and sat on Motorway at 65 without problem. Actually a bit faster if I am going to tell the truth. We travelled from Peterhead to Newquay stopping overnight in Manchester (750miles. Had V8 Discovery before this but beats it hands down. Tax is cheap on older models and gives you confidence and feel extremely safe with all the kids onboard. Cant fault it. Will hopefully persuade my dear wife that we should get a bigger van maybe a Luner FB twin axle??
