On the face of it, at 90% the caravan is slightly on the heavy side.
Loading the car (SE Tourer) with all the heavy items (food, tools etc.) to achieve the ideal 85% is the answer.
85kg tow ball weight, fitted with Winterhoff stabiliser.
With this done, the car had more than adequate power and tows straight as anything up to 60 mph.
Fuel consumption averages 28 mpg (49 mpg solo)
With a later, lighter caravan, this combination would be superb.
Not ideal but a work around as it's a company car and will be retiring shortly when I will buy a Discovery 2
Oh, and it's not a pretend Audi, it's a real one with Seat badges! - excellent value.- the factory fit detachable towball is brilliant, imposible to identify it as a tow car until it is!
(40 yrs towing caravans, Transport Engineer and HGV 1 driver
Had this combination for a little over a year now. SEAT is an ex demo unit that has incredible performance. Recent solo trip from the alps to home gave 53mpg at an average 61mph. OK for me,
Towing its faultless. Never lacking in power and feels totally safe though I tend to keep below the maximum speed limit even on motorways. Averages slightly better than 30mpg towing.
I know its a pretend Audi but I like it all the more for that.
6 months on and all is welll pulls well picks up well 6th gear not brilliant but not to be expected plenty torque much better thna the old astra
