It's a beast...not best looking car but at a mass of 2100kg easy to get to the magic 85% on loads of vans.
Get the ELX with the use of 4 x 4 when needed. Then theres the space .
Even with 7 seats in place there loads of room and a decent boot.
Take out the rear bench seat and use as a 4 seater and the boot is van like at around 3000 litres. It's capacities draws most other cars .... Best of all cheap to by...
Not as good as my discovery 3 but nearly and half the price.. more space and much much cheaper to run... its a towbar bargain
Been using this combo for some while now and last year towed almost 20.000 miles through Europe visiting nine countries in nine months. Both van and car loaded to the max. Never missed a beat.
Have only had the car a week but the van was hitched to go to a rally within 24hours, having just returned I cannot praise the car enough, Much better than the shogun it replaces and the disco before that, a silky smooth tow despite van and car being loaded to the max. The engine pulls well and is well matched towing and solo to the tiptronic gearbox. It may be old Merc technology but that's more bulley proof than new merc technology. Look past the badge and it's a pretty good bit of Kit, Disco3 or rangie it aint but for the price (especially used as this one is) not a bad towing vehicle. Get one up to April 06 and it's cheaper tax too, as well as missing the savage depreciation.
