Towns the odyssey with no problems hills are no problem mpg goes down, but the 185 bhp engine is very good and the 6 speed manual gearbox is good ,
We have used this outfit since 2010 with absolutely no hiccups at all the car pulls effortlessly and is completely stable in all weathers, would highly recommend it as a towcar, it is certainly our best yet
Ihave only towed with this car, and no problems. I found mpg drops from 48mpg to 28mpg when towing
2003 D5 with Tunit CHIP (163BHP +20% with CHIP)
Tow is really easy, very stable, happily reaches top speed, happily cruises at 60MPH.
Fule economy for 2.4 Diesel is circ 20 MPG with Caravan in tow.
Great car to tow with !
towed with this combination from stoke on trent to devon no problems average mpg only dropped by 5mpg only the two of us not a great lot of weight loaded car with bulk great time
My experience is similar to other reviewers. Extremely stable, effortless pulling except on steeper inclines, good mpg when loaded properly (I put as much in the car as possible and recently recorded 34mpg overall 700 miles. The car has a large boot area especially with back seats down but the only downside is the small access. Otherwise perfectly happy
Good match between car and van. To overtake/accelerate on motorway then need to manually select 5th gear, 4th is rarely needed.
Fuel consumption is about 27mpg
This is our 1st year towing and seems to be ok. We have noticed though the rear wings drop quite a bit when van is on,(hope thats normal) but pulls fine on most roads. We are new to touring so would welcome all reviews.
volvo s60 towing a lunar lexon ds no problems at all with any towing. although 91% it is a easy tow , just loose 5 th on all hills

I've had no problems with the car pulling this caravan allthough it can bounce a little if the towbar weight is too much. If this occurs more weight distribution to the rear of the caravan can take a lot of this away.
volvo s60 2.0 very stable and tows well with power to spare
The car has plenty of power for towing. The auto box is grear for pulling away.I had feared the box would continually change down but with carefull use of the accelerator it is ok.My only complaint is the fuel used almost double when towing.I have not checked when refueling but the computer shows 23 mpg instead of 40ish.The auto looses approx 6mpg compared with the manual transmission. You have no clutch to worry about.
Slightly over the 85% ideal, though you wouldn't be able to tell. Very stable and assured combination, not subject to sidewinds or suction. The S60 has to be the best towcar I have owned, enough power when towing and solo, excellent brakes good MPG and all day comfort from some of the best seats in the business.
this is an exceptionally good towing saloon car. With very good fuel consumption over all the range of constant speeds. It seems to enjoy towing the Abbey 215
Mine is the Abbey Vogue 215 GTS - Volvo S60 D5 Sports 185 bhp would confirm all that has been said.. Effortless towing -and excellent fuel consumption.
Towed all over Europe and up some of the most deadly slopes -- but still keeps pulling..AND a very comfortable car.Got ATC on the van and it makes stopping easier- not to say it wasn't good before
I think the Volvo is a wonderful car solo and pulling caravan. Good fuel economy of 5,6l and 13,4l/100km solo/pulling. Also very reliable car.
The volvo pulls well and has plenty of power for overtakingetc.
I have towed with this car all over Europe and it sticks to the road like glue..There was no hint when passing trucks of any instability..
Speeds are as stated above -- the best thing was the fuel economy -- 42.6 Mpg when towing over 2500 miles
The volvo S60 seems to have endless power and always has a little more to give when required. It accelerates just as well with or without the caravan with excellent brakes it stops with ease. Giving MPG with caravan of 30 and 40-45 without excellent figures for the 2.4 D5 engine. Very stable and reliable
I am towing a vintage Airstream with a Volvo S60. Combined mass is about 4125 kg. This is legal in North America; car manufacturers' tow ratings are recommendations, not legally binding. The setup uses a custom built receiver (towbar) and a weight distributing hitch (search for Eaz-Lift) to send a large portion of the noseweight to the front tires of the car; the car has a level attitude despite a noseweight in excess of 250kg. Friction sway controls are used to ensure stability. An electric brake controller is used to activate the electrically actuated (12V) trailer brakes when the brake pedal is depressed.
Set up of this outfit was done by www.canamrv.ca.
The combination performs very comfortably while cruising at 100 to 110 km/h, without snaking (yaw). Some clutch slip is required to start, but hill climbing ability compares favourably to large American SUVs towing 3500 kg + trailers. Top speed in 5th has been observed as 118 km/h (rather than the 120 calculated on this site), but there may have been a very slight upgrade involved. Driving is normally done in 4th gear; 3rd is only occasionally required for steeper hills.
The calculations provided by www.towcar.eu/caravantrekker.nl are impressively accurate, and I consider them very useful and reliable.
